The Meditation Garden
As the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praises to spring forth before all the nations.
The Holy Innocents Meditation Garden reflects the hard work and dedication of volunteer parishioners who have lifelong interests in horticulture and gardening. Through the years, the green space under a tall canopy of trees, located on the south side of the church has been a natural gathering place.
A garden began to take shape when James “Jim” McClure, Jr. donated an angel sculpture in memory of his beloved wife Angele’ Kazar McClure. In 2023, parishioners Jann Henley and her husband Tucker led an extensive renovation of the green space that included a new garden design, installation of plants, and the renovation of all the existing beds on the church grounds. The new all-white, four-season garden includes a larger border garden filled with a mix of bulbs, perennials, annuals, and shrubbery further defined and included The McClure garden.
In 2025, the Henleys led another garden installation on the north side of the parish hall, creating an annual cutting garden that serves to support the floral ministry while color and beauty to the existing space.
During all seasons, we welcome you to the Meditation Garden, a place for contemplation and prayer.
